Preparing for Your Virtual Experience

Get Set-Up Now on RingCentral

The majority of the Virtual part of your Summit experience will be accessed through an online platform called RingCentral. Check your inbox! You should also have recently received an email —Subject Line: "Your Access to the Virtual Racial Justice Summit on Ring Central” — providing you with direct access to the RingCentral platform. (Click the Blue Button)

You will be invited to (re)access your RingCentral account. Once you set or entered a password, you can customize your RingCentral account by adding a profile picture, bio, pronouns, and more.

Since the Summit hasn’t started yet, that email will bring you to the Summit “waiting” page. You will see the Summit go live at 8 AM CST on September 25. The opening Keynote will begin at 9 AM in the “Stage” area of RingCentral. Feel free get set up and explore the Expo area between 8 and 9 AM.

Important Note: RingCentral works best on the latest version of Google Chrome.

The RingCentral Pre-Event Check is a tool available to you to test the setup of your local device so that potential incompatibilities can be identified before the Summit starts, or diagnosed more easily during an event. This tool can test:

  • Browser compatibility

  • Speakers, microphone and camera

  • Connectivity (VPN, firewall, anti-virus)

  • Stream quality

Most of the Breakout Sessions and the Virtual Connection & Processing Spaces are using Zoom.

If you don’t already have Zoom, you can download it and create a basic account for free here: www.zoom.us

Virtual Connection & Processing Spaces

11:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Zoom

Access your virtual connection and processing spaces by logging onto RingCentral. Then click the “Sessions” tab to reveal Meet-Up Spaces at the top. Zoom links are pinned in the chat inside of each session.

Connection & Processing Spaces include:

  • Meetups for Areas of Intersectional Justice Work

  • Connection & Reflective Processing Spaces (Non Race Based)

  • Connection & Reflective Processing Spaces for BIPOC

  • Connection & Reflective Processing Spaces for White Folks

Virtual Breakouts

12:30 PM - 2:30 PM | Zoom

Access your virtual breakout by logging onto RingCentral. Then, click the “Sessions” tab and locate the session you have been assigned to. Zoom links are pinned in the chat of each session.

Did you miss the selections deadline? Check to see which virtual sessions are still open.

Issues with Connectivity

If you are experiencing issues connecting to RingCentral, please check the following:

  • Check the Browser you are using — RingCentral works best on Google Chrome or Firefox.

  • Turn off ad blockers for the time you are connecting to RingCentral.

  • Connect directly to ethernet for faster connection.

  • Those joining from a work computer may has issues if there are additional layers of security protections. We recommend having a personal device as a back up.

  • If issues persist or you need support, see the Help Desk under “Sessions”.

VPNs and Firewalls

Some attendees have run into issues due to VPN or Firewall issues or security restrictions. If you think that’s possible at your organization or business, we recommend connecting with someone from your place of work (IT Staff or other support people) to ensure that you will be able to access the event or have a personal device as a backup.

Accessibility

The Summit will feature American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for all of the keynote experiences happening at the Stage in RingCentral.

RingCentral Events provides automatic captions for Stages, Sessions, Expo, Networking and Replay segments. Click the “CC” button at the bottom of the screen to enable them. Click here for more information about closed captions in RingCentral.

Recordings

The two Virtual Keynote Experiences will be recorded.

The recordings will be available for playback within the RingCentral platform shortly after they take place and till the platform closes in the evening on Friday, September 26th.

They will also be made available to Summit registrants for three months after the Summit in a password protected webpage. Access to the page will be sent in a post-Summit email.

Neither Virtual Breakout Sessions on September 25, nor any of the In Person Experiences on September 26 will be recorded.

Continuing Education Units (CEU)

Social Workers

The Summit has been approved for 11.25 Continuing Education Credits by the National Association of Social Workers, Wisconsin Chapter. 

Step 1: Request a CEU

To receive credits for attending the Racial Justice Summit, please fill out the CEU Request form at the END of your Summit experience! If you are attending the Summit on both days, please complete the form at the end of the In-person Experience day on September 26th.

Step 2: Complete Post-Summit Evaluation

To obtain your CEU Certificate, you will need to complete the Post-Summit Evaluation that will be sent to ALL attendees days following the Racial Justice Summit.

Please allow time for processing. You CEU certificates will be emailed to you.
