Nina Gehan-King

Nina Gehan‑King (she/her) is the co‑founder and CEO of MeaningFULL Development & Communications, a woman and minority‑owned boutique consulting firm based in Madison, Wisconsin. She is a nonprofit and purpose‑driven business development strategist with more than fifteen years of experience supporting organizations to build strong, community‑centered fundraising, communications, and operational systems. Nina has led development efforts in several area nonprofits including the Lussier Community Education Center, UW–Madison, and Centro Hispano (Centro). She co‑founded MeaningFULL with her husband in 2022 to partner with small and mid‑sized nonprofits, purpose-driven businesses, and social enterprises committed to justice and equity. Nina has presented widely on community‑centric fundraising, dismantling extractive philanthropy, and the power of financial strategy in movement work. Nina has worked on grassroots development and communications campaigns with dozens of nonprofits and small businesses as well on major capital efforts including Centro’s Campaign CENTRO and the Urban League’s Black Business Hub. Nina received Madison Magazine’s 2023 Amy Award for her leadership and impact in Dane County as a connector. Born in France and raised in a bilingual nomadic family, Nina also brings a global lens to her work. She holds a DEUG in History from Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne, a BA in Sociology from the University of Chicago, and an MA in Journalism & Mass Communications from UW-Madison. She is a mother of four, serves on the board of Rooted, and is the facilitator of the MeaningFULL Peer Cohort, a leadership development program for fund development professionals from marginalized communities.
