Samantha Green
Samantha Green is a proud Madisonian, community advocate, mom, and grandmother with 15 years of experience working in social services. Her commitment to supporting individuals, families, and communities is deeply rooted in both her professional experience and her own journey.
Samantha brings a unique perspective to her work because she understands what it means to navigate systems from lived experience. She has experienced homelessness, lived in a shelter, relied on W-2 assistance, and navigated the challenges that come along with dealing with the criminal justice system.
These experiences have shaped her ability to approach difficult topics with honesty, compassion, and courage. Samantha believes that some of the most important conversations are also the hardest to have—and that creating space for those conversations can open the door to understanding, healing, accountability, and change.
As a community advocate, Samantha is passionate about breaking down barriers, challenging assumptions, and helping people recognize the strength and possibilities within their own stories.
Her lived experience isn’t something she hides; it’s part of what informs how she shows up, connects with others, and advocates for change.

When Helping Hurts invites helping professionals to examine how their personal lens, assumptions, biases, boundaries, communication, and use of power can influence the experience of the people they serve.
Through guided reflection, interactive discussion, and practical exercises, participants will explore the ways good intentions can sometimes produce unintended harm. The workshop encourages professionals to move beyond intention and consider impact, accountability, and the role of repair in maintaining healthy helping relationships.
The goal is not perfection. The goal is greater awareness, intentionality, and the courage to repair when our helping misses the mark.
