Sacred Wisdom, Sacred Earth by The Loka Initiative: Madison Premiere

There are stories that live in the land and water, carried through generations—connecting past, present, and future. Sacred Wisdom Sacred Earth is one of those stories, offering deep wisdom about the relationship we must tend to and nurture as humans who live from the gifts of Mother Earth.

YWCA Madison is deeply honored to be entrusted as host of the Sacred Wisdom Sacred Earth Madison Premiere, the first non-Native audience to witness this new documentary.

Created by the Loka Initiative in partnership with Bravebird, UW–Madison’s Center for Healthy Minds, and the Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, the film brings forward the voices of Wisconsin’s Native American tribes. It unveils the deep spiritual and cultural connections to the Great Lakes that hold not just water, but memory, survival, and vision for the future. These relationships are not abstract; they seed movements for resilience, for sovereignty, and for protecting what sustains us all.

What does it mean to stand with Indigenous communities in their fight for land, water, and sovereignty? What does mutual aid look like when rooted in reciprocity? What are the practices we need to seed for to be in right relationship with Mother Earth? Join in-person on September 26 at the Racial Justice Summit to view Sacred Wisdom Sacred Earth, our invitation to reimagine our relationship with ourselves, each other, and the world we live in.

This screening is a closed event and open only to registrants for the Racial Justice Summit who have tickets that include the in-person day on September 26.
