Dr. Giselle Argento‑Berrio
Dr. Giselle Argento‑Berrio is a board-certified family physician, founder of Adwuma Family Medicine and current medical director of Psychological Addiction Services. Born in Colombia and raised in the Chicago area, she brings her experience as a Latina immigrant to her work as a physician, educator, and advocate.
Her career has spanned rural family medicine, correctional health, addiction treatment, home-based care, and direct primary care. In each setting, she has seen how race, gender, income, and access shape whose needs are heard, whose pain is taken seriously, and who has the time and support to be well. She founded Adwuma Family Medicine to create more room for trust, connection, and care that responds to people’s lives.
Dr. Argento‑Berrio earned her medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she completed a distinction in public health. She trained in family medicine at Swedish First Hill in Seattle, with concentrations in reproductive health and global health. She mentors future physicians and serves on the board of the Medical Organization for Latino Advancement. Her work invites us to question what people have been expected to endure—and to imagine health beyond survival.
