“The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.”― Maya Angelou

Greetings, my name is Karla -- I'm a mom of three girls, wife of a military veteran, and fudge brownie lover who resides in the Chicagoland area.

Professionally, I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Certified Teacher of MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), and Staff Therapist at The Family Institute at Northwestern University. I’m also a proud member of the Wildflower Mindfulness Collective -- a sangha of MBSR teachers from diverse and marginalized communities trained through UC San Diego’s Mindfulness-Based Professional Training Institute.

My healing care work lives at the intersection of mental health, mindfulness, creativity, and spiritual grounding. I’m passionate about creating spaces where people from all walks of life—especially those navigating layered identities—can feel seen, safe, and supported.

Whether I’m facilitating a workshop, guiding a meditation, or writing a poem, I believe in the power of intentional pause and encountering liberation within the present moment. I hope to support others in their journey of reconnecting to their intuitive self, restoring emotional resilience, and embracing stillness as a radical and restorative act of self-love.
